Participation Rules

NISEKO DISCOVERY CYCLING is a fun ride event designed to help participants and local communities discover the appeal of the region together. Please review the following rules and enjoy the ride responsibly.
Event Regulation
  • This is not a race but a cycling event to showcase the charms of Niseko and the Shiribeshi area in Hokkaido.
  • No traffic restrictions will be implemented on non-timed sections of the course. Follow all basic traffic laws, including stopping at red lights and stop signs. Avoid riding side-by-side or cutting into traffic.
  • Course map information will be available via "Ride with GPS." Download the data to your device or print a copy to carry with you.
  • Warning signs will be posted as needed, but not comprehensively. Check your route data before the ride and ensure you can access it during the ride.
  • Be cautious when crossing prefectural and national roads, particularly for large vehicles. Avoid reckless riding.
  • This is a self-supported ride. Carry essential tools and equipment, such as Allen keys and spare tubes, to handle potential issues like flat tires.
  • Checkpoints with light refreshments will be provided but may not cover all needs. Bring your own supplies if necessary.
  • Videos, pictures and any media coverage during the event belong to Hokkaido Events.

Bicycles
  • Only bicycles equipped with front and rear brakes are permitted.
    The following types of bicycles are not allowed:
    Fixed gear bikes (piste)・Small-wheeled bikes・Recumbent bikes・Basic commuter bikes ("mamachari")
    Single-speed bikes with free hubs and front/rear brakes are allowed.
Important Notes
  • Safety Gear: Helmets and gloves are mandatory during the ride.
  • Refunds: Entry fees are non-refundable, including in cases of event cancellation, modification, or non-attendance. Refer to the [Cancellation Policy] for more details.
  • Weather: The event may be modified or canceled due to adverse weather conditions at the organizer’s discretion.
  • Health: Participants are responsible for managing their health. Carry your health insurance card and note that the organizer will only provide first aid for injuries or illnesses.
  • Course layouts may be altered due to changes in road conditions or the environment.
  • Do not park at nearby businesses, stores, facilities, or parks for NISEKO DISCOVERY CYCLING purposes.
    Parking details will be announced closer to the event date.
Additional Notes
  • Participants are responsible for their bicycles and accessories. The organizer is not liable for theft or damage.
  • Weather conditions, including rain, strong winds, fog, and low temperatures, are possible. Bring appropriate clothing, such as leg/arm warmers, windbreakers, and rain gear.
  • Aid stations will provide snacks, but supplies are limited. Bring sufficient water and nutrition and consume them proactively.
  • Save the event headquarters' emergency contact information in your phone. Ensure you can contact the main office during emergencies.
