A crucial prelude to the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships
Once again, the spotlight of the cycling world in Hokkaido is on Niseko as the traditional “Niseko Classic 2025” takes place from Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15. This thrilling event for both competitors and spectators serves as an important stepping stone toward the “UCI Gran Fondo World Championships 2026”, to be held in Niseko from August 28 to 31, 2026.

During the Niseko Classic, participants will challenge themselves on breathtaking mountainous routes, ride through lush forests, and race along the rugged coastline of the Sea of Japan. With the majestic Mt. Yotei and the Niseko Mountain Range as a backdrop, the race not only celebrates the natural beauty of the region but also continues the tradition of active tourism to revitalize the local area.
This year’s event will feature Japan’s first-ever Team Relay and Individual Time Trial, attracting even more participants. As the race continues to grow, Niseko further solidifies its position as Asia’s premier cycling destination, paving the way for the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
